Uniforms play an important role in the branding process of a company or a business, by creating a brand identity. Taking examples from some of the major brands like Zomato, Swiggy, Domino’s, etc. we notice that their employees can be easily recognized by the uniform they wear.

A good uniform should be identifiable, informative and functional, however the information should also be precise with compact designs, or else it would be difficult to understand the artwork, let alone the brand identity.

One important factor of a good uniform is the logo placement. Companies often underestimate the importance of logo placement and size in a uniform. This in turn reduces the visibility and functionality of uniform, defeating its ultimate purpose.

To help you understand better, our experts have analyzed and discussed some of the pros and cons of possible logo placements.

The classic and ideal logo placement is on the left pocket of the shirt. The size of logo would be favorably 3" to 4", offering a minimally designed uniform.

However, a major drawback of such a uniform is that the logo can either go unnoticed or get hidden by hair or bag straps. Such a logo placement would be suitable for employees or event staff.

This is a rare logo placement, average logo size being 3" to 4". A logo on the lower left side of the shirt may go unnoticed in action or get hidden if the shirt is tucked in. Any information that might not be of great interest to people could be printed at this location.

Yet another spot where the logo visibility is low, since the jersey creases the most at this place. Also, the logo might not be visible in pictures or there are high chances of it being covered by the arm. Such logo placement is not ideal for sports that involve a lot of movement.

It could be considered the counterpart of left pocket logo placement if someone prefers a logo on the right side of the shirt. However, this is not a standard place for logo placement and rarely used by companies in case of printing a single logo on the garment.

A small logo in the middle of the shirt might offer a good visibility. The chances of such a logo to go unnoticed or hidden is low. However, considering the size of the logo, it might be difficult to understand. Also, such logo placement lacks an aesthetic value and might look odd at a glance.

This logo placement is not favorable if a company needs high visibility, as the logo is nor completely visible, as only half or quarter of the design may be seen. In case of event staff, the logo will not be visible in pictures.

Another major drawback of this logo placement is that it is not easy to read and one might have to compromise on size if you’re using the logo on the sleeve.

For maximum visibility and complex designs, this is the most suitable logo placement. The chances of logo going unnoticed is low and a company need not compromise on size and information they need to offer. However, a tight fit silhouette on a tee-shirt with such a logo placement may lead to a warped logo.

This logo placement is subtle and sleek. However, the logo is small and hard to notice from a distance. Also, it may hide behind hair strands or bag straps. Such logo placement is suitable for information that is insignificant.

Similar to the logo on the collar, this is also a minimal and simple design. Also, this logo as well can go unnoticed or hidden by folded up sleeves or jackets and mostly never shows in pictures.

Such a logo placement is suitable for sports players for writing information such as jersey number. However, it might get covered with hair, if the tee is worn by a woman.

Such logo placement is again suitable for sports and outdoor events. However, it is not visible in photos and can only be seen if the person has his back facing toward the camera.

Chances are, it might also get covered by a backpack.

Such logos tend to get worn out easily since this is the part that gets rubbed against a chair or wall while sitting or exercising.
